Frp201202202157: Mr. President, please pay up
President Obama claims he should pay more, and my numbers suggest that he is correct. You can start, Mr. President by paying me back, all of the extra money your energy policy has cost me, so far.
Mr. Obama sure had a good time ridiculing the Republicans over the Payroll tax holiday extension. He said it amounted to $40.00 per week. Apparently $40.00 is what you get when you round $19.23 up.
So I started looking at my business costs, since Mr. Obama took the oath of office in 2009. Calculated my total miles and fuel costs, along with my cost per mile. I am self employed and keep such records.
I compared my costs under George W. Bush from 2004 through February 27th, 2009 to my costs under Barack Obama from March 2nd, 2009 to December 31st, 2011.
During the 62 months under President Bush, I traveled 168,140 miles and paid $19,505.04 for 7,117.32 gallons of gas. That averaged $2.57 per gallon, $314.60 per month, and 11.6 cents per mile.
During the 33 months under President Obama, I traveled 85,765 miles and paid $13,921.86 for 4,280.42 gallons of gas. That averaged $3.28 per gallon, $421.87 per month, and 16.2 cents per mile.
The average monthly increase under President Obama is $107.28. which equals $24.76 per week. I would think Mr. Obama would likely round $24.76 up to “about $40.00 per week”. President Obama’s words not mine.
Incidentally, 16.2 cents per mile, under President Obama represents a 39.9% increase over the 11.6 cents I paid under President Bush.
Maybe it would be a good idea to ask the American public what $40.00 means to them. Perhaps some bright person will think of that.
Myself, I am satisfied to call the difference $24.76 per week, which is actually $5.53 more than the President is saving me, by throwing granny off a cliff as the Social Security trust is pilfered.
In my budget $24.76 per week represents a lot of money.
Anyhow Mr. President, since you have so much money and you are so anxious to pay it back, because you have been so blessed by the system… how about cutting me a personal check for the $3,540.24 you have cost me so far, with your wonderful energy policy.
Once I have received your personal check, I will let the million other small businessmen standing behind me know it’s their turn. Hope you have a lot of checks.
P.S. Mr. President, I am lucky if my gross income ever makes it to middle income, so perhaps it’s not worth your political investment to care about me, when you have so many middle income to worry about.
Lucky for you I am a principled Conservative who doesn’t envy the rich, or expect anything from them.
My only want from Government is to steer the country properly and do its best to keep my costs down. I would appreciate Government being responsible with money, like I have to be to stay afloat.
See I believe the rich earned their way to where they are and as such they owe me nothing at all… neither do you Mr. President, so don’t think I am holding my breath, awaiting your check.
You could maybe learn something from little old me. I’m just saying.
